2026 Phase II Clearwater Connection Smoke Testing Information

The Clearwater Connection Identification Study is moving into Phase II

There are three principal areas of study in 2026: The Aspen Airport Business Center; the neighborhoods around Red Butte, including Cemetery Lane, Red Butte, the Snow Bunny and the Aspen Meadows area; and residential neighborhoods of east/south Aspen, including Mountain Valley, Aspen Grove and East Aspen along the base of Smuggler Mountain.

Public outreach started the week of April 27 when door hangers were distributed.

Crews move very quickly and our contractor TREKK Design anticipates a two to three week schedule, weather dependent. Crews will walk the neighborhoods observing the smoke and a drone will be used to assist in observation in most areas.

Schedule:

The project team will begin in the AABC on Monday, May 11 before moving to the neighborhoods in and around the Aspen golf course area including Cemetery Lane, Snowbunny, Red Butte Drive and the Aspen Meadows from May 12-14, and finishing on the east side of the city along the base of Smuggler mountain from Red Mountain Road to Mountain Valley the week of May 18-22. The work is weather dependent.
